Who Am I

I’m Heather Schieder

Artist. Illustrator. Advocate.

Heather Schieder is a self taught artist and illustrator. She enjoys creating unique and vibrant illustrations that appeal to children and adults alike. Her work ranges from heartwarming, funny, and cheerful drawings to bold designs that are thought-provoking and full of conviction.

Heather was recently chosen to design the core value banners for Saint Mary’s College in Indiana. Her work is currently on display throughout the campus for the 2021 - 2022 school year, and she will be continuing the series of illustrated core value banners for Saint Mary’s College over the next three years.

Heather believes that art can explore many emotions - humorous, silly, sad, introspective, and even hurt or anger. Her illustrations trend towards the fun and whimsical, with many animals, flowers, and scenes that invoke a sense of warmth and coziness. However, she also uses her unique style to provide creative insight into serious issues of mental health and social justice, and works towards diversity and representation in that she does. She wants her drawings to be able to spark conversations about many topics, and often uses them as a starting point to share stories about her own journey and day to day adventures.

She works in Western New York, where she lives with her husband, children and highly anxious dog.
